It’s only the third day in the transfer window but Liverpool have already been relatively busy so far. But not in the way many fans would have expected.
In terms of incomings it’s expected to be be a quiet window for Liverpool. The Reds will only react if an exceptional opportunity arises in the market.
That’s how Liverpool have always operated in January windows of the past.
However, on the departures front there is expected to be a bit of a reshuffling. Particularly, with the loan situations of some of the club’s players. Liverpool sent a plethora of players on loan over the course of last summer and not all of them have gone well.
The Reds have already recalled Owen Beck from his loan spell at Dundee followed up by Fabio Carvalho from RB Leipzig, and now another has followed suit.

Rhys Williams returns
Liverpool confirmed on the club’s official website that Rhys Williams has been recalled from his loan spell at Aberdeen.
Williams was hampered by injuries during his arrival at Aberdeen, and failed to break into the side after his recovery.
He did not make a single appearance during the last six months at first team level and now returns to Anfield with the agenda likely being another loan spell for the second part of the season.
This is no the first time Williams has been recalled from his loan.
Last season, contrarily to this season he was doing really well at Blackpool in the Championship, but was recalled due to Liverpool’s lack of depth at centre-back. But Williams then made no first team appearance after his recall.
Which means the last year or so must have been a frustrating time for the 22-year-old, who fairly recently was on the periphery of the first team. Klopp even described him as an ‘exceptional’ player in a press conference a few years ago.
Now an uncertain future awaits Williams, though at this stage it is likely to be away from Anfield.
