Divock Origi now makes claim about what Liverpool fans ‘always’ want to speak with him about

Divock Origi says he still ‘feels the love’ of Liverpool supporters even after leaving the club.

Origi became something of a cult hero during his seven-year spell at Anfield. Having scored some huge goals on the way to the 2019 Champions League win in particular, the Belgian is very fondly remembered by Reds.

Now with Nottingham Forest, Origi has looked back on his time at Liverpool with Sky Sports. Asked about his famous goals against Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur in 2019, the 28-year-old said he’s still approached by Reds fans wherever he goes.

“They show a lot of love,” Divock smiled. “Even like when I’m at the hotel, you always find a Liverpool fan and they’ll speak about it.”

Having voted his second goal against Barcelona at Anfield as the best in the club’s history in 2022, supporters clearly still adore Origi.

Origi feels the love

Since leaving Liverpool, it’s fair to say that Origi’s career has taken a downward turn.

A free transfer to AC Milan in 2022 looked like a good one for him at the time. But the Belgium international never got going in Italy and was even booed by his own fans.

Milan seemingly couldn’t get Origi out the door quick enough, and he eventually joined Forest on deadline day.

Now back in the Premier League, there was hope that Divock would be able to get back on track. But more than three months on from his arrival, he has only started one game.

Seven further appearances have brought zero goals, as Origi fails to match the impact of fellow former Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi.

With a long way to go in the season, hopefully Forest can still manage to get the best out of him.

But whatever he does manage to do at the City Ground, nothing will eclipse Origi’s legacy at Liverpool.

It’s no wonder that Reds fans still love to see their former No.27 out and about. As well as being a scorer of some big goals for them, Div is known as one of the nicest and most relaxed men in football.

The word ‘legend’ might just evade him when all is said and done. But what a welcome the big man will get if he ever makes it back to Anfield.
