Transfer insider Ben Jacobs has detailed how likely it is that Liverpool now sign Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz in the January transfer window.
The Germany international has been one of the stars of the season in Europe, with Wirtz playing a massive role in Xabi Alonso’s side competing in the Bundesliga title race.
As a result, interest is now building for Wirtz, with reports suggesting that Liverpool are keen on signing the £90m-rated attacking midfielder heading into 2024.

However, according to Jacobs speaking to GiveMeSport, Wirtz will not be sold in January, with Leverkusen not willing to let go of their star prospect next month.
Jacobs said: “Nothing will happen in January. There is no chance of a January exit even though we are seeing links ahead of the window opening, which is normal.
“Clubs that are looking are window planning but, from Leverkusen’s perspective, they are not going to entertain a mid-season sale because they are flying at the moment.”
Liverpool are kidding themselves if they thought Florian Wirtz was available in January

Lauded by the Bundesliga’s official website as a ‘generational’ talent, Wirtz is a player who will clearly go far at a top level in Europe.
Yet for Liverpool, the odds of Leverkusen allowing their star prospect to depart in the January window were always going to be close to zero.
As we know, Leverkusen have been one of the stories of the season under Alonso, with domestic and European glory firmly on the table for the Bundesliga side.
And Wirtz will want to play a role in Leverkusen going for history, with the midfielder’s value only likely to increase in the coming months as well.
