‘Talk with each other’… Ryan Gravenberch says he already has a ‘good connection’ with Liverpool man

Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch says he’s settling in well to life at Anfield.

Gravenberch is still a very new player for Liverpool. Having only arrived on September 1st – transfer deadline day – the Dutchman is getting up to speed.

Despite that though, Gravenberch has claimed that it hasn’t take him long at all to feel at home on Merseyside. Speaking to TNT Sports this week, the 21-year-old admitted that the support of Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has made the moving in process so much easier.

“When I spoke to him [Klopp], he gave me a warm feeling, like a family, you know?” Gravenberch explained. “That’s what I missed. I’m very happy he gave me that feeling.

“I’ve a good connection with the coach. When he has something to say to me about the game, or something else, we just talk with each other. I have a good connection with him. He just gives me confidence, to give me minutes on the pitch again.

“He just told me: ‘enjoy the game again.’ And that’s what I did. With the minutes, the confidence came back.”

Gravenberch getting on with Klopp

Since moving to Liverpool from Bayern Munich, Gravenberch has hardly stopped smiling.

We’re not sure quite what was going on at Bayern, but Liverpool’s No.38 was clearly not enjoying himself at all.

From what the Netherlands international says, his unhappiness purely stemmed from not being in the team. Gravenberch made just a single Bundesliga start last season after all.

But it’s also worth pointing out that so far, the £34m signing has made just four appearances in a Premier League starting XI for Liverpool. He isn’t exactly the first name on the teamsheet.

As a result, it’s fair to deduce that – just as he often is for the Reds – Klopp is the difference here.

The manager always seems to know how to get the best out of his players, whether they’re a guaranteed starter or are fighting for a place in the squad.

From Klopp’s perspective, Gravenberch’s delight at being a part of the group appears to be mutual. The German has already taken time out to praise his newest signing a number of times this season.

As time goes on and Gravenberch develops, he and his manager’s relationship will surely only continue to get better. There’s plenty more to come from the former Ajax man at Liverpool, but he’s certainly set off on the right foot.
