Florian Wirtz reportedly wants to sign for Bayern Munich despite Liverpool being heavily linked with a move for the Bayer Leverkusen star.
The Germany international has been one of the best players in Europe this season, with Wirtz playing a massive role in Xabi Alonso’s side dominating the Bundesliga and UEFA Europa League.
As a result, Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing the €100m (£89m)-rated attacking midfielder, who former Germany boss Hansi Flick recently praised as ‘outstanding’.

However, according to Sky Germany, it’s Bayern whom Wirtz wants to join next year, with the reigning Bundesliga champions the club who have caught the youngster’s attention.
Indeed, given the influence Bayern have on the German market, it’s perhaps no real surprise that Wirtz is now willing to join the record-breaking league title holders.
Yet for Liverpool, missing out on Wirtz would be a huge blow for the Reds, with the youngster exactly the sort of player Jurgen Klopp should be looking at to replace Mohamed Salah.
Bayern Munich signing Florian Wirtz is a shame for Liverpool

Wirtz is one of the biggest talents to emerge from Germany in quite some time, and whilst a move to Bayern is perhaps typical, Liverpool losing out on the youngster is a shame.
The versatile forward has all the skills needed to become a top player at any of Europe’s biggest clubs, and Liverpool could have been a dream destination for the youngster.
As we know, Salah is due to leave Liverpool next year amid ongoing interest from Saudi Arabia, and Wirtz could have been a realistic option to succeed the 31-year-old winger.
However, to the surprise of few, it’s Bayern who are now the favourites to sign Wirtz, with the youngster potentially the German giants next superstar in the making.
