Trent Alexander-Arnold was the hero for Liverpool this weekend against Manchester City as the defender sealed a point for the Reds after Erling Haaland put the hosts ahead.

The England international’s sweet hit after some swift footwork was sensational to watch for supporters, with Jamie Carragher recently lauding Alexander-Arnold as an ‘untouchable’ player for Liverpool.

And for BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks, the 25-year-old is one of the cleanest strikers of the ball in the Premier League, even besting the likes of Haaland.

Given how ferocious a finisher the Norwegian international is, it’s perhaps not too crazy a statement to say, with Alexander-Arnold an excellent striker of the ball when given the chance.

Crooks said: “With the exception of Kevin de Bruyne, there can’t be a cleaner striker of a ball anywhere in the Premier League than Trent Alexander-Arnold. Erling Haaland will almost always find the corner of the net but his strikes are nothing like as clean as Alexander-Arnold’s.

“The Liverpool defender is a throwback to the days when former greats like Chris Lawler and Alec Lindsey not only loved to get to get into the attacking third of the pitch and score goals, but struck the ball just as sweetly.”

Erling Haaland could never learn Trent Alexander-Arnold’s technique

It would be an understatement to say that Alexander-Arnold’s abilities on the ball is something nobody can learn, with the defender born with a God-given talent.

The fullback’s technique is simply world-class and has been a key reason why the Liverpool star is as incredible as he is, with Alexander-Arnold’s finishing a byproduct of such a skill.

And for Haaland, the City forward will simply not be able to learn how Alexander-Arnold strikes a ball, though the 23-year-old is doing just fine on what he is currently doing.

Indeed, Alexander-Arnold’s finishing separates the fullback from other right-backs in football, and the 25-year-old’s technique is why the Liverpool man is considered one of the best in his position.
