Jamie Carragher has named Luis Suarez as the best maverick the former defender ever played with during his career at Liverpool.

Mercurial talents are some of the most entertaining in all of football, with Liverpool have a handful in their current squad with the likes of Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and even Dominik Szoboszlai.

And in the past, the Reds have seen some of the greatest mavericks football has ever seen, with Robbie Fowler one of the best in the Premier League era of English football.

Yet for many fans, including Carragher via Stick to Football, Suarez is the best he has seen at Liverpool, with the pundit saying when asked about the best maverick he’s played with: “Suarez for me at Liverpool.”

Now 36 and still going strong, Suarez is as mercurial as he ever has been, with the attacker now passing on the torch for club and country to Liverpool’s leading striker Nunez.

Indeed, few players will ever be as ruthless as Suarez in front of goal, and for many Liverpool fans, it will amazing if an attacker as good and as entertaining as the Uruguayan ever features for the Anfield side.

Chaos on and off the pitch and controversies galore, it’s easy to see why Carragher named Suarez as Liverpool’s best maverick during his playing days.

The South American forward, when on form, was arguably the best striker in Europe at the time of his peak Liverpool years, with the 2013/14 season one for the ages for Suarez.

Insane goal numbers coupled with Puskas Award-level strikes made the Uruguayan one of the most entertaining forwards in recent Premier League history.

And although Suarez never won the title with Liverpool, the forward still holds a place in every Liverpool fans’ heart.
