Liverpool reportedly no longer have the best chance of signing Schalke 04 teenager Assan Ouedraogo in January.

The German midfielder has emerged as one of the most highly sought-after players in all of Europe this season, with Liverpool firmly in the mix for Ouedraogo’s signature heading into 2024.

However, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Anfield is now no longer Ouedraogo’s most likely destination, with Bayern Munich, Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig the frontrunners for the youngster.

With AC Milan also reportedly chasing Ouedraogo, the battle to sign the 2.Bundesliga star is slowly falling away from Liverpool despite early interest in the 17-year-old prospect.

A record breaker already with Schalke having become the German giant’s youngest-ever goalscorer, it’s becoming quite clear that Ouedraogo’s future is likely to be in the Bundesliga.

And for Liverpool, missing out on Ouedraogo will be a hammer blow for Jurgen Klopp, especially if the midfielder develops into the world-beater many expect the youngster to eventually become.

Liverpool could regret not pushing harder to sign Assan Ouedraogo

With the likes of Bayern and Leipzig eager to sign Ouedraogo, it’s clear that the midfielder is a serious talent who could one day become a starter for the German national team.

And for Liverpool, they might now be regretting not pushing hard enough to sign Ouedraogo, who under Jurgen Klopp could have become quite the player in Liverpool’s system.

Dynamic, athletic and still yet to hit his true potential, there’s so much to like about Ouedraogo, with top Bundesliga sides now keen to bring in the youngster in January.

All signs now point to Liverpool missing out on Ouedraogo, and for many fans, there could be regret in a few years time if the midfielder blossoms into one of the best in the Bundesliga at a Bayern or Leipzig.
