Liverpool could be without as many as six first-team players for Saturday’s big match against Everton.

After two Premier League games on the road, the Reds are back at Anfield this weekend. With their local rivals in town, Liverpool simply have to get back to winning ways.

It won’t be easy against Sean Dyche’s side though, the Toffees are coming off the back of a 3-0 win against Bournemouth. And according to The Mirror, Liverpool’s job will be made slightly more difficult with half a dozen absences in their squad.

Curtis Jones is still suspended and certain to miss out, while Thiago Alcantara and Caoimhin Kelleher reportedly have no chance of playing either.

Meanwhile, the trio of Cody Gakpo, Stefan Bajcetic and Andy Robertson are said to be ‘doubtful’ to make it.

Robertson’s name may as well be added to the ‘certain’ pile, though. He could be missing for a long while. That he’s claimed to be still in with a chance is likely down to the fact that the full extent of his shoulder injury is yet to be revealed.

For Everton, they’re reportedly in slightly better shape. Dyche could be missing four first-team players, though. Dele Alli, Seamus Coleman, Andre Gomes and Idrissa Gana Gueye are all said to be doubts.

Liverpool missing half dozen for derby

Of the six players mentioned here, there are a handful of potential starters. These are injuries that could hurt Liverpool.

Kelleher of course doesn’t fall into that category, and neither does Bajcetic – although he did start and excel in this fixture last season.

The other four names could all conceivably be starting for Liverpool in normal circumstances, though.

Clearly, Robertson would be nailed-on to be in the XI. The 29-year-old relishes these kinds of occasions and the team will be poorer without him in it.

Jones’ importance to Klopp has grown massively too and as a local lad, would perhaps be in the side for this one. Thiago meanwhile is arguably still the Reds’ best midfielder on paper.

And then there’s Gakpo. The £44m signing scored his first Liverpool goal in last year’s Anfield derby and was back in the team before his injury against Tottenham.

Klopp had suggested that Cody would be ready to play after the international break, so we wouldn’t rule the Dutchman out just yet. For the other five though, we’ll just have to win this one without them.
