Luis Diaz and Ian Rush were both seriously impressed by the performance of Liverpool gem Stefan Bajcetic against Everton last night.
The 18-year-old was a standout in the middle of the park, and his excellent display led to a well deserved Man of the Match award – a stunning achievement in your first Merseyside derby.
Taking to Instagram after the game, the Spaniard posted a series of pictures from the match.
He captioned the post: “This is us. This is Liverpool.”
In the comments, the youngster received huge praise.
This included a fire emoji from Reds teammate Diaz, whilst club legend Rush sent a one-word message reading, “quality”.
Diaz and Rush praise Bajcetic
Coming up against Sean Dyche’s physical side, Jurgen Klopp was expected to go with more senior players last night – the likes of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner and Naby Keita.
Despite this, he decided to stick with Bajcetic, as the teenager has yet to let him down since coming into the first-team this season.
Playing further forward in a position he was yet to experience, the 18-year-old was absolutely phenomenal as a number eight.
He looked calm and composed on the ball, and he wasn’t scared to get stuck in with Everton’s midfield.
Although he was the youngest player in Liverpool’s XI, he never looked out of place. He certainly played in a mature manner.
Therefore, there’s no reason why Bajcetic shouldn’t keep his place in Klopp’s side, as he has been exceptional every time he’s come in.
The 18-year-old has an incredibly bright future at Anfield.
