Liverpool could be preparing an enormous offer to sign Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella.
Barella was linked with a move to Anfield in the early part of the summer transfer window. But with the Reds signing four different midfielders, the Italian remained at Inter.
Nevertheless, that hasn’t stopped the rumours continuing to swirl. And according to Calciomercatoweb, Liverpool’s interest hasn’t gone anywhere.
They claim that Barella’s future is still far from certain at San Siro. His sale could still reportedly be needed to raise funds for Inter.

As a result, the 26-year-old may be back on the market in January.
The Italians would seemingly not be short of suitors to sell their star midfielder too. But it’s claimed that one club ‘in particular’ should be watched during the winter market: Liverpool.
Manager Jurgen Klopp is even said to have a ‘passion’ for Barella, and has him down as the main mid-season target to further strengthen Liverpool’s midfield. Consequently, the Reds reportedly could be set to make an ‘important’ proposal.
Liverpool readying Barella bid
During the summer window, Barella would have been plenty of fans’ first-choice as a signing.
The Italy international is a fine player who has grit, determination, quality and fantastic athleticism. Steven Gerrard called him a potentially ‘world-class’ player not all that long ago, that’s the level we’re talking about here.
There’s little doubt that he’d be a top addition for Liverpool.

But you feel that if the Reds were going to sign him, they’d have done so already.
The thing now missing for Klopp in his new-look midfield is quite plainly a top defensive midfielder. Although he may be able to fill in a-la Alexis Mac Allister, Barella isn’t that.
His skillset is perhaps a little too similar to the likes of Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and even Dominik Szoboszlai.
So, although we’d still like to be proven wrong, we just don’t see how there’s room for a Barella in this Liverpool squad. This ship has seemingly sailed.
