Liverpool are weighing up making an offer for Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella.
The Reds have been heavily linked with a move for Barella as part of their midfield rebuild this summer. And after more reports of interest arrived yesterday, journalist Rudy Galetti has claimed that a bid could be on the way over the next few days.
“Barella remains a target for Liverpool to strengthen the midfield,” Galetti wrote on Twitter last night. “LFC are internally evaluating if made a concrete move (bid!) for Nicolo in the next days.”

However, should an official offer arrive, the journalist suggests that it wouldn’t be met with much enthusiasm by Inter.
“Inter – to date – consider the player non-transferable,” he said.
With Inter and Barella reluctant to part ways, this has always seemed like a difficult transfer to complete. But it seems Liverpool may well push forward anyway. Let’s see what happens!
Liverpool weigh up Barella offer
To many Liverpool supporters, Barella would be a dream transfer this summer. At 26 the Italian is now in his prime and would be a real statement signing.
Unfortunately though, part of the reason it would be such a statement is because of the perceived difficulty of getting him out of Milan.
Barella is a boyhood Inter fan and has had a good amount of success with the club. He’s won a Serie A title and two Coppa Italia’s, as well as being a runner-up in the Europa League and the Champions League.

The Nerazzurri will play at Europe’s top table for a sixth consecutive campaign in 2023/24. Liverpool. meanwhile, are resigned to a season in the Europa League.
So, before you even get to the potential cost of a deal, it feels like a long-shot for the Reds.
But then you factor in the likelihood of Inter wanting a pretty big fee for Barella. In Liverpool terms it could even eclipse £75m, the record fee they paid Southampton for Virgil van Dijk in 2018.
As a result, there is much to deliberate for those at Anfield before making a bid. Do they really think they can get Barella? If they do, then by all means let’s get the ball rolling. But if they feel other targets are more attainable, let’s focus on those instead. An interesting few days ahead either way.
