Liverpool are ‘on alert’ that they could soon have the chance to sign Jarrod Bowen from West Ham United.

The Reds have been continually linked with Bowen over the past couple of years, with rumours once again ramping up recently.

That could perhaps owe something to the 26-year-old currently being locked in contract talks with West Ham. Negotiations which TalkSPORT claims are ‘moving slowly.’

As a result of Bowen so far failing to commit his future to the Hammers, Liverpool have reportedly been ‘alerted’ to the fact that he could be on the market.

This is said to be something that the England international’s agents are seemingly keen to push. It’s also been claimed that Bowen’s advisors are ‘aware’ that the Reds have him down as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah. Newcastle United are another side reportedly well in the mix, too.

Bowen puts Liverpool on alert

Whatever you think about Bowen potentially joining Liverpool, he’s certainly a man in form.

The former Hull City player followed up his recent goal at Anfield with another last weekend. That made it five goals in seven Premier League games this season, just one fewer than in the whole of last year.

It’s just a start, but it’s a very good one. Whether Bowen is worth the £60m fee teammate Michail Antonio believes he is [Footballer’s Football Podcast] will perhaps become clearer over the course of the rest of the campaign.

What is obvious though, is that Liverpool like him very much indeed. Jurgen Klopp has spoken of his admiration for Bowen in the past, while he’s regularly been cited as an ideal signing should Salah depart.

In our opinion, we’d much rather see Liverpool spend that kind of money on a player like Pedro Neto, who’s also been linked.

But if the Reds were to follow up on their interest in Bowen, it would be years in the making. For that reason, you have to trust that the boffins in the analytics department know what they’re doing.

For now though, we would probably say that the most likely outcome of all of this is Bowen signing a new deal. Until he does though, this won’t be the last we’ve heard of his.
