16-year-old Liverpool defender Amara Nallo was moved up to play with the U21s against Monaco last night.
Nallo is a new signing at Anfield, having been brought in from West Ham United during the summer. And having been initially put with the U18 squad, the centre-back’s talent has already seemingly been recognised.
As per liverpoolfc.com, Nallo was on the teamsheet for Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat by Monaco in the Premier League International Cup yesterday.

Playing alongside the likes of Bobby Clark and Mateusz Musialowski, Nallo was given the full 90 minutes to impress.
Also involved was fellow new recruit Trey Nyoni. Another summer arrival, midfielder Nyoni – another 16-year-old – was brought on for the final few minutes of the game.
Nallo makes U21 bow
It’s perhaps no surprise to see Nallo already involved with players far more experienced, and older than himself.
The former Hammer has joined Liverpool with a burgeoning reputation as a star of the future.
Having been described with words such as ‘elegant’ and ‘Rolls-Royce’ by West Ham academy coach Carlton Cole [whufc.com], it’s clear just what kind of defender Nallo is.

That’s exactly the kind of centre-back that Liverpool look to develop. Nallo only has to look at the recent pathway of Jarell Quansah to see what he needs to do to break through further down the line.
For now though, that shouldn’t necessarily be on the young man’s mind. Instead, Nallo needs to simply focus on doing his best game in game out in the academy.
As Ben Doak’s rapid rise last season showed though, a quick rise through the age ranks is possible. Doak himself was brought into the U18 squad from Celtic.
Barely a year on and the Scotsman is a fixture in the senior squad and starting games at Anfield. The pathway is there, and Nallo – and Nyoni – are starting to tread it.
