Fabrizio Romano has detailed that Liverpool are keen to tie Trent Alexander-Arnold down to a new contract, with the defender also sold on the idea.
Speaking to CaughtOffside, the transfer guru revealed that both parties want to conclude a deal in the coming weeks, with Alexander-Arnold in talks over a new contract.
Lauded by Andy Robertson as a ‘gifted’ player, the 24-year-old was named Liverpool’s vice-captain after Jordan Henderson’s departure prompted Virgil van Dijk to be promoted to skipper.

With two years left on his current contract, talks are now ongoing between Liverpool and Alexander-Arnold, and there is now a hope between both parties that an agreement can be reached.
Romano said on Liverpool’s talks with the 24-year-old defender: “Some reports claim that Liverpool and Trent Alexander-Arnold are set for new contract talks.
“I am still working on that one, but for sure the feeling remains always the same: Trent loves Liverpool, Liverpool want Trent to stay. The feeling is mutual. I think they will continue together for the future.”
Liverpool will want Alexander-Arnold to sign new contract ASAP

Alexander-Arnold is a Red through and through, and the fullback is seemingly keen on continuing at Liverpool having this season been named second-in-command to Van Dijk.
And with talks ongoing, Liverpool will hope to have the talented defender signed to a new deal sooner rather than later, especially with Alexander-Arnold keen on such a move to happen.
Indeed, Alexander-Arnold will likely become Liverpool captain one day in the future, and signing a contract will be huge in this dream being fulfilled.
