Everton could target Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips, after persistent links with Liverpool.
The Reds have been rumoured to have Phillips on their midfield shortlist for a number of weeks in the summer transfer window.
But with Liverpool on the verge of signing Ryan Gravenberch, that now looks unlikely to happen. According to The i though, that could end up being good news for Everton.
They claim that the Toffees are making the Man City man an ‘ambitious’ deadline day target.
With City having confirmed the signing of Matheus Nunes from Wolves, Phillips looks set to be even further down the pecking order.
As a result, The i claim that the 27-year-old will be allowed to leave the Etihad today.

Consequently, maybe a move to join Everton’s relegation battle will be an enticing prospect for him…
