Trent Alexander-Arnold has hailed Jarell Quansah after the defender made his Premier League debut for Liverpool this weekend against Newcastle United.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the England international was full of praise for the 20-year-old centre-back, who came on in the second-half for Liverpool to help the Reds secure a 2-1 win against Newcastle.

Alexander-Arnold said: “Jarell Quansah, absolutely phenomenal in his first game for us, coming on in an atmosphere and an environment like this is extraordinary. And to hold his own in the way he’s performed is outstanding.”

Regarded as one of the best players coming through Liverpool’s academy, Quansah looked mature for his age on his Premier LEague debut at St. James Park.

With Ibrahima Konate out with a knock and Virgil van Dijk suspended, there could now be a chance for Quansah to play more professional minutes for Liverpool in the upcoming Premier League fixtures.

And Quansah’s audition on Sunday has certainly caught the eye of his teammates, with Alexander-Arnold’s endorsement as good as it could have got for the 20-year-old.

With UEFA Europa League football on the cards for Liverpool this season, rotation will be key for Jurgen Klopp if his side are to compete in Europe and in the Premier League.

As a result, Quansah could find himself featuring for the Reds quite a lot this year, with appearances in the Europa League group stages seemingly a guarantee later this season.

Indeed, Quansah has the potential to become a defensive star for Liverpool, and the centre-back’s Premier League debut was a taste of what’s to come for the 20-year-old in the coming months.
