News broke yesterday evening that Liverpool had agreed a deal for Stuttgart midfielder Wataru Endo.

The 30-year-old, who has made 133 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit, is set for a medical with the Reds today. That will not be the end of Liverpool’s transfer dealings, however, with the Liverpool Echo suggesting that Jurgen Klopp is still on the lookout for at least two more signings.

According to the report, the Reds remain in the market for a left-sided centre-back and could choose to further bolster their midfield before the transfer window comes to a close.

Transfer talk has skyrocketed in the past 24 hours at Anfield, with mutliple midfielders linked to the club.

It was revealed yesterday that Liverpool had reignited talks with Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch, alongside retaining interest in Fulham man Joao Palhinha and approaching Crystal Palace for 23-year-old Cheick Doucoure.

Klopp’s men have also reportedly made contact with Serie A outfit Fiorentina over Moroccan international Sofyan Amrabat.

One thing is for sure, it is set to be a hectic couple of weeks on Merseyside with time now ticking for the Reds to complete their squad and fill the gap left by the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi Pro League outfits Al-Ettifaq and Al-Ittihad.

Endo looks to be the start of a chain reaction for Liverpool who are now desperate to improve their team before the transfer window draws to a close.

It is a massive opportunity for Endo

Capped 50 times by Japan, the experienced midfielder spent the first eight years of his professional career in his homeland with Shonan Bellmare and Urawa Red Diamonds before moving to Belgian outfit Sint-Truiden in 2018.

He spent one season in the Belgian Pro League, spending the next campaign on loan at Stuttgart prior to singing permanently for the German side in 2020 where has has been ever since.

No doubt the biggest opportunity of his career, Endo will be raring at the bit to get started with Klopp’s men.

Who will his new midfield partner be? We will have to wait and see on that one.
