Liverpool are having quite the battle with the Saudi League this summer and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon either.

The Reds have lost Jordan Henderson to Steven Gerrard’s El-Ettifaq while Fabinho is also close to completing a big-money move to the Middle East as well.

There has been apparent interest in Luis Diaz, while Mo Salah is a marquee and obvious name that the Saudi League want to sign.

But even beyond Liverpool’s own squad, it seems Saudi clubs are muscling in on the Reds’ transfer targets, this time in the form of Federico Chiesa.

Chiesa has been linked with a move to Anfield all summer. But according to journalist Rudy Galetti, Al-Nassr are now keen on taking the Italian to Saudi Arabia.

With Juventus in a touch of trouble off the field, they could be forced to sell players. And while Galetti say Chiesa is not interested in a move just yet, we know how things can change when the Saudi money comes along.

Chiesa, who has been labelled as a ‘flawless‘ talent, remains an unlikely signing for Liverpool as well. Midfielders remain the priority, while a new defender could also be signed.

It’s not enough that they pinch a few of the best midfielders at the club but now it seems Saudi teams are looking at the same sort of transfer targets as well.

Of course, we know Chiesa is a long shot sort of signing anyway. But that doesn’t stop the fact that Saudi clubs being in the mix causes an issue.

The problem is it doesn’t just stop with Chiesa. And with every passing transfer completed, the Saudi League and teams there will grow more confident of landing more and more players.

For teams like Liverpool and others, this is a problem when it comes to this window and future ones.
