Liverpool are busy this summer in both the incoming and outgoing departments and it looks like another player has sealed an exit this evening.

The Reds have been wheeling and dealing this summer so far and have made moves to bring in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai in midfielder.

However, they’ve also lost players and after Jordan Henderson was confirmed as an El-Ettifaq player earlier this week, it now appears Fabinho is set to follow suit.

Taking to Twitter just now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Fabinho has indeed completed all the relevant checks and tests and will now be unveiled as an Al-Ittihad player very soon.

Liverpool are set to receive a healthy sum of around £40m for Fabinho and the Brazilian becomes the latest player lured by the riches of the Saudi Pro League.

Fabinho’s exit has come as less of a shock than the one of Henderson. The now former Reds skipper has come in for criticism, mainly due to his previous stances on LGBTQ issues.

For now, Liverpool will need ensure they get replacements in the door. Romeo Lavia is being linked, while Brazilian Andre is also being touted as a potential signing.

RTK’s View: End of an era but a deal worth taking

Looking beyond the money and the political side of things on this one, in pure footballing terms, this is a deal Liverpool had to do.

Getting good money for Fabinho, who let’s be honest has looked past his best, is a good move for the Reds.

They can now look to reinvest in the squad and the likes of Lavia and Andre seem very good younger options to go for.

For Fabinho, he can look back on his time in Liverpool fondly. But the Reds must keep marching forward and the time has come now to replace these stalwarts.
