Liverpool midfielder Thiago sent a brief farewell message to departed captain Jordan Henderson this afternoon after the Englishman’s transfer to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ettifaq was confirmed.
Taking to Twitter, the ‘world-class’ Spaniard stated, “We gonna miss you. Good luck and all the best, skipper”.
The pair spent almost three years together at Anfield following Thiago’s arrival from Bayern Munich in 2020.
In each other’s company, they lifted the FA Cup and Community Shield. A Carabao Cup could have also been added to the list, but the Spain international did not make a single appearances in that season’s cup run.

Henderson signed for Liverpool from Sunderland in the summer of 2011 and enjoyed a largely successful 12 years at Anfield having lifted everything there is to win as captain of the club. His name will forever be etched in the Reds’ history books.
MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES
For a fee believed to be in the region of £16million to £20million, Liverpool received a midfielder from Sunderland that played a pivotal role in securing their first Premier League trophy, a sixth Champions League title, the FA Cup, two League Cups, the Super Cup, the Club World Cup and, of course, the Community Shield.
Spending over a decade on Merseyside, the Englishman totalled 492 appearances for the club. He scored on 33 occasions and provided 61 assists as he rendered himself an icon of the Kop.
Post-Henderson era begins
Henderson joins Al-Ettifaq for £12million plus add ons and leaves a gap in the Liverpool midfield department that desperately needs filling, hence the club’s serious interest in young Southampton starlet Romeo Lavia.
The now former captain can leave Anfield with his head held high.
As Thiago stated, he will surely be missed by everyone at the club. His presence cannot be understated, so it is now up to Jurgen Klopp to appoint a fresh captain as a new era begins for the Reds.
