PL club now looking into signing ‘outstanding’ Liverpool player, Reds will accept £20m

Wolves are looking into the possibility of signing Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

Kelleher’s future has been in doubt since the start of the summer, with plenty of suggestions that he’s ready to seek first team football away from Anfield. But as of yet, there’s been no movement on that front.

According to The Daily Mail though, that could soon change. They claim that Kelleher has ’emerged’ as a target for Wolves as they prepare to lose first-choice ‘keeper Jose Sa.

Sa is reportedly of interest to Nottingham Forest. And should he leave Molineux, it’s claimed Julen Lopetegui could look to Kelleher to fill the void.

Liverpool are claimed to be asking for £20m to sell the Irishman, who is reportedly looking for ‘regular football.’

Wolves want Kelleher

At the beginning of the week, the prospect of losing Kelleher this summer would have been a fine one to stomach.

The 24-year-old is more than ready to be a starter somewhere and that isn’t going to happen at Liverpool. If we can get something like the asking-price, it’s a good deal for everyone.

But suddenly, with the thought of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho leaving, it seems unwise to add any more to that pile. Especially another homegrown player.

A rebuild was needed at Liverpool this summer, that was clear. But to ship out three more members of the first team squad would feel incredibly unwise.

It’s also worth pointing out that Kelleher would need to be replaced. With more work now potentially on than they expected in the transfer market, the last thing we need is to be scrambling for a back-up goalkeeper. Nevertheless, if Kelleher makes it clear to Jurgen Klopp that he wants to go, and a good bid comes in, Jurgen won’t stand in his way.

The manager is a big fan of the Ireland international, calling him ‘outstanding’ last year. As he’s shown by recent talks with Henderson though, he’ll let players go if that’s what they really want.

For now, there doesn’t feel to be anything especially concrete with Caoimhin. The first signs are there though, the Reds need to get prepared.
