Liverpool will ignore interest in ‘special’ 17-year-old prospect, Klopp wants him in the first team

Liverpool youngster Ben Doak is set to join the first team set-up at Anfield for the coming pre-season.

Doak was a breakout star for the Reds during 2022/23. His lightning pace and fearless nature rightly leading Jurgen Klopp to calling him ‘special.’

And with another pre-season nearly upon us, The Athletic claim that Klopp will bring the 17-year-old back into the senior side.

There is said to be loan interest in Doak, but the current expectation is reportedly that the winger will ‘stick around.’

This will supposedly lead to a chance to impress during Liverpool’s summer friendly games.

But Klopp won’t stop there with Doak. It’s claimed that the former Celtic player can expect the manager to give him more minutes in the first team for the upcoming season, too.

Doak set for senior chance

One of the few positives about Liverpool dropping into the Europa League next season is the opportunity to give young players meaningful game time.

The Champions League can at times be too testing and tense to chuck youngsters in. Of course, this isn’t always the case and some truly exceptional talents can make the breakthrough regardless.

Doak is potentially one of those talentless. Regardless of that though, Liverpool playing in Europe’s secondary competition in 2023/24 will surely benefit the Scotsman.

He already showed last season that he’s ready for the first team. Despite being so young, Doak made a massive impression.

As excitement builds for an improved Liverpool season, the Scotland U21 star is someone we can’t wait to see again.

His talent doesn’t mean he’s guaranteed minutes, though. The Reds have plenty of quality forward options who can’t all play at the same time. The likes of Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez will also perhaps be looking to the Europa League as a way into the team. It’s still up to Ben to prove he deserves to mix it with those senior stars.

So far in his short Liverpool career, the teenager has done exactly that. Still so, so young, he’s only going to get better. No loan needed here, Doak is on a fast-track to the top.
