Liverpool academy forward Mateusz Musialowski is in talks with two Polish clubs about joining them this summer.

Musialowski has been one of the standouts from the Reds academy over the past three years. But having failed to see his good displays in the youth team translate into senior appearances, Polish outlet Sportowe Fakty report that he could now leave.

To that end, they claim that the 19-year-old is now speaking two sides from his homeland over a move.

Although the identities of the clubs aren’t yet known, Sportowe Fakty claim them to be Gornik Zabrze, and one of the two teams from Lodz.

The prospect of a loan move for Musialowski is said to have been something that Liverpool have considered in the past. However, it’s unclear whether a transfer this year would be temporary or permanent.

Musialowski looking to leave Liverpool

Musialowski’s story with Liverpool has been one familiar with a number of overseas academy recruits in the club’s recent history.

Plenty of talent from across Europe has been brought in since the early 2000’s. But although they often come with big reputations, very few actually make it to the first team.

Unfortunately for the Poland U21 international, he now looks set to follow that path.

Once deemed a ‘special’ player by expectant Reds supporters, his potential simply hasn’t been fulfilled. Approaching his 20th birthday, Musialowski is still yet to play any senior football in his career at all.

However, Liverpool shouldn’t give up on him just yet. It’s true that there is just a year left to run on his contract, but there would seem little sense in cutting ties with him right now.

During his time on Merseyside, Musialowski has proven himself to have a little magic in his boots. Get a good loan spell under his belt and things might start to look different for him at Anfield.

With all due respect though, the teenager has to be looking to move to a higher level. There should be teams from the Championship or even slightly higher-ranked leagues who would take a punt on him. Get a contract signed, head out and show them what you can do, Mateusz!
