Reds U21 coach Barry Lewtas has claimed that Liverpool have a ‘real danger’ in Polish winger Mateusz Musialowksi.
Musialowski has been impressing once more in the early stages of the season for the young Reds. And speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Lewtas praised the 19-year-old’s recent display against Everton.
“Matty’s [Musialowski] done that role well for us in the past. He’s not a traditional nine but he’s similar to Ben [Doak]. You want to get these players the ball and when Matty dribbles in the middle, he’s a real danger,” said the coach.
“He did really well today [against Everton on Saturday], especially in the first half. He created a couple of chances for us. He can play anywhere across the frontline, the important thing is just trying to get him the ball.”
Musialowski has been expected to get a first team call up for a little while. But despite his obvious talent, he is still waiting to make his senior Liverpool debut.

Musialowski still looking for first team chance
Now nineteen, Musialowksi needs to start entering into Jurgen Klopp’s thoughts if he’s to have a future at Liverpool.
Injuries to Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz means that the Reds attacking options are seriously dwindling right now. As a result, now could be the perfect time for the player dubbed the ‘Polish Messi.’
Lewtas suggests that Musialowski can play across the whole forward line. If that’s the case, then it could help his prospects of getting some first team minutes.
He’s just six months younger than Harvey Elliott after all, and the talent is there. Why not give the young man a chance to show what he can do.

It still somehow doesn’t feel likely that we’ll ever see Mateusz turn out for the first team at Liverpool, though.
He has the ability to tie defenders in knots at youth level, showing a consistently good level since arriving in 2020.
But for whatever reason, it seems as though Klopp hasn’t been convinced. While he has blooded a whole host of academy players over the last two years, Musialowski has been overlooked.
There is a player in there, but unless he gets an opportunity during this season, in all likelihood he’ll move on sooner rather than later.
