Sofyan Amrabat is getting tired of waiting for Barcelona, and could still join Liverpool instead.
The Morocco international had seemed set to join the Spanish giants this summer, but according to Sport the move now looks in doubt.
The Catalans reportedly no longer see Amrabat’s £26m price-tag as value for money. They’re instead said to be convinced that if they wait, the valuation will come down.

All of this is claimed to be frustrating Amrabat, who wants his future sorted as quickly as possible. Unless Barca are willing to ‘define their position’ in the next few days, he could reportedly look for other clubs.
To that end, Liverpool, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid are all claimed to be waiting in the wings. Each have supposedly ‘sounded out’ the midfielder. Atletico are said to be struggling to reach Fiorentina’s valuation though, so a Premier League move could be more likely.
Liverpool still in for Amrabat
As Liverpool ponder their next midfield addition, we can’t rule Amrabat out just yet. The Moroccan has been continually linked since his shining performances at last year’s World Cup.
In terms of price-tag, he’s certainly affordable. Wages shouldn’t be an issue either. That’s two boxes ticked for the Reds already.
As far as on-pitch matters are concerned, he certainly wouldn’t be first-choice for a lot of fans. But Amrabat does have a fair bit to offer.

Biting in the tackle and relentlessly energetic, he’d add the steel that Liverpool so sorely missed in parts of last season. It says a lot that a side like Barcelona are after him anyway. Reds fans shouldn’t be turning their noses up. By his own admission, he’d suit the Premier League.
Nevertheless, we still don’t think Amrabat is being looked at as a genuine option for Liverpool.
Since reports that Jurgen Klopp had attended a meeting with the Fiorentina man’s agents back in the New Year, there hasn’t been too much noise about a move to Anfield.
That doesn’t necessarily mean Amrabat is no longer a target. But with much ‘hotter’ links to the likes of Khephren Thuram and Gabri Veiga, he might be a touch further down the list than Sport are reporting.
