Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo is a top transfer target for Chelsea, having failed to find an agreement with Liverpool.
Caicedo looks like being one of the major transfers of the summer, with Brighton set to bank around £70m for him. With so many top clubs on the lookout for midfield additions, the Ecuadorian is on a lot of club’s wish lists.
Liverpool have been named as one of those clubs in the lead up to the summer window. But with his price-tag on the high side, they don’t appear to be one of the front-runners. This is a stance today confirmed by journalist Florian Plettenberg on Twitter.

“News Caicedo: He was discussed at FC Bayern in the last days as he has still no agreement with Chelsea or Liverpool yet,” Plettenberg wrote. “Bayern is monitoring his situation. But CFC still pushing.
“But: Tuchel has other plans and is not pushing for him at this stage.”
Liverpool still in Caicedo race… just
It was a little bit of a surprise this afternoon to read Caicedo’s name in connection with Liverpool. At the moment there look to be three or four sides ahead of them in this particular race.
Nevertheless, maybe the Reds can’t be ruled out just yet. They’ve been claimed to be ready to enter the race to sign the 21-year-old if his price drops to an acceptable level [The Telegraph].
The longer he goes without securing a transfer elsewhere, perhaps that becomes a more likely scenario.

It would also explain why there has been such little movement on Liverpool’s transfer business over the last week or so. Maybe they’re just keeping one eye on Caicedo’s situation before they pull the trigger on anything else.
Although that doesn’t seem especially likely, it is clear that Liverpool do have long-held interest in the Brighton man.
Having got themselves a good deal from the Seagulls in the shape of Alexis Mac Allister, maybe they’ll return for a second raid.
Either way, it seems as though any such agreement isn’t exactly imminent. Chelsea sound like they’re pushing hard, so Liverpool’s interest might soon become an irrelevance.
