Liverpool remain keen on signing Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo in the summer, according to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg.
The 21-year-old penned a new deal at the south-coast club last week, signing until 2027 with the option of an additional year.
Despite this, Plettenberg still believes his exit in the summer is likely.
He claims the Ecuadorian remains on the transfer lists of Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool.
The Reds were reportedly keen in January, but the Seagulls were intent on keeping him at the Amex Stadium. As a result, Jurgen Klopp’s side have brought this interest through to the summer.
However, the arrival of Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham remains their priority.
Liverpool want Caicedo in the summer
Although Liverpool are intent on landing the 19-year-old superstar in the next few months, his arrival won’t solve all of Klopp’s issues in the middle of the park.
Instead, the side need an additional two signings if they are to get back to their best and compete for both the Premier League and the Champions League.
Therefore, a player like Caicedo would be a huge addition to the Reds’ ranks.
At 21 years old, he has already demonstrated he is more than capable of performing in the English top-flight, having dominated Liverpool’s midfield on occasions this season.
Having recently been hailed as a ‘magnificent’ player by Jamie Redknapp, Klopp would love to add the Brighton star to his squad.
However, it is more a case of whether the club have the funds to bring him in.
