Liverpool are likely to have one of their busiest summer transfer windows in many years in 2023. So, keep up to date on each confirmed signing, transfers in and out, loan exits and players released here.
The Anfield natives must address a number of problems with Liverpool’s first-team squad after their disappointing campaign during 2022/23. Boss Jurgen Klopp could only secure the Merseyside team a berth in the Europa League for next term after ending the Premier League season down in fifth place.
Matches in Singapore over the summer will give Klopp a chance to run the rule over any new recruits as Liverpool’s pre-season tour features a selection of high-profile teams. Leighton Clarkson – Aberdeen confirmed the signing of the midfielder from Liverpool on June 15. The Dons paid an undisclosed fee to retain the 21-year-old after his successful season on loan in 2022/23. He played in 38 games across all competitions, whilst scoring six goals and also laying on nine assists.
Layton Stewart – Preston North End and Liverpool confirmed the permanent transfer of the 20-year-old on July 22. The striker agreed to a switch to Deepdale after 13 years with the Reds which featured one senior appearance. Jurgen Klopp handed the Liverpool-born talent his debut in November 2022.
Jordan Henderson – Al-Ettifaq announced the arrival of the Liverpool captain at the Saudi Pro League side on July 27 for £13m. The midfielder left Anfield having won five major trophies over a 12-year career on Merseyside. He was also the Reds’ captain since 2015, replacing his new head coach Steven Gerrard.
Fabinho – The 29-year-old completed a £40m transfer from Liverpool to Al-Ittihad on July 31. He also agreed a three-year contract with the Saudi Pro League side after five years at Anfield. The Brazilian made 219 appearances for the Reds after leaving Monaco for £44m and he won four major trophies.
Max Woltman – Oxford United secured the arrival of the 19-year-old in a permanent transfer from Liverpool on August 3. The Us paid an undisclosed fee for the forward, who had already played for the League One team in pre-season. Woltman left Liverpool after two senior outings totalling 45 minutes.

Calvin Ramsay – Preston North End confirmed the signing of the defender on loan from Liverpool for the 2023/24 season on June 13. Injuries had restricted the right-back’s availability under Klopp during his debut season at Anfield in 2022/23. He signed for the Reds from Aberdeen for £6.5m last June.
Harvey Davies – Crewe Alexandra confirmed the signing of the goalkeeper on loan from Liverpool for the 2023/24 season on June 14. The 19-year-old will gain his first experience of first-team football at the League Two team. He had previously featured on the Reds’ bench under Klopp during 11 games.
Rhys Williams – Aberdeen confirmed the signing of the 22-year-old on loan from Liverpool for the 2023/24 season on June 28. It also marks the defender’s fourth temporary move away from Anfield. He most recently spent the first half of the 22/23 campaign with Blackpool, registering 17 appearances.
Fabio Carvalho – RB Leipzig confirmed the signing of the 20-year-old on loan from Liverpool on June 30. The attacking midfielder signed for the Bundesliga team on a year-long deal after one season for the Reds. He moved to Anfield from Fulham for £5m, rising to £8m, but only played for 637 minutes.
Owen Beck – Dundee FC confirmed the signing of the 20-year-old on loan from Liverpool on July 3. The left-back moved to the Scottish Premiership team on a season-long deal following spells in the 2022/23 season at Famalicao and Bolton Wanderers. He has two senior appearances for Liverpool.
Sepp van den Berg – FSV Mainz 05 confirmed the signing of the 21-year-old on loan from Liverpool for the 2023/24 term on July 13. The switch was an instant return to the Bundesliga for the centre-half. He spent 2022/23 with FC Schalke 04 but a serious ankle ligament injury held him to a mere nine outings.
Anderson Arroyo – FC Andorra confirmed the signing of the 23-year-old on loan from Liverpool for the 2023/24 season on July 18. It marks a third season with Segunda Division football for the right-back. He spent the previous two terms in Spain’s second tier at CD Mirandes and Deportivo Alaves.
James Balagizi – Liverpool confirmed on July 19 that the 19-year-old had signed a new contract and joined Wigan Athletic on loan. He joined the League One team in a season-long switch for a second temporary spell away from Anfield. The midfielder joined Crawley Town for the first half of 2022/23.
Dominic Corness – Yverdon Sport confirmed the signing of the 20-year-old on loan from Liverpool on July 20. The midfielder will spend the 2023/24 term at the Swiss Super League side for his first taste of first-team football. He has only featured at the junior level since joining Liverpool aged just five.
Adam Lewis – Newport County secured a season-long loan transfer for the 23-year-old on July 28. The Liverpool academy product returned to Rodney Parade having also spent the 2022/23 season with the League Two team. A hamstring injury ended his creative stint with the Exiles in February.
Jakub Ojrzynski – FC Den Bosch announced the arrival of the 20-year-old on loan from Liverpool on August 8. The goalkeeper will spend the 2023/24 season with the Dutch second-tier side following previous spells at Caernarfon Town and Radomiak Radom. He is yet to play for Liverpool’s first-team.
Luke Hewitson – Stalybridge Celtic confirmed the signing of the 18-year-old on loan from Liverpool on August 18. The goalkeeper will stay with the Northern Premier League, Division One West team until January. It marked the former Sunderland youth prospect’s first move away from the Reds yet.
Billy Koumetio – USL Dunkerque secured a season-long loan switch from Liverpool for the 20-year-old on August 29. The centre-half joined the Ligue 2 side to further his first-team experiences after a spell at FK Austria Wien in 2022. He played 11 times in Vienna and twice in Liverpool’s first-team.
Nat Phillips – Celtic announced the arrival of the 26-year-old on loan from Liverpool on August 31. The centre-half joined the Premiership giants on a deal until January to enjoy the chance to play in the Champions League group stage. Phillips has played five games in the UEFA tournament before.
James Norris – Tranmere Rovers confirmed the signing of the 20-year-old on loan from Liverpool for the 2023/24 season on September 1. The left-back joined the League Two team for his first transfer away from Anfield. He enjoyed regular PL2 action for the Reds in 22/23 and left for first-team games.
Luca Stephenson – Barrow AFC secured a season-long loan transfer from Liverpool for the 19-year-old on September 1. The deal marks the defensive midfielder’s first temporary spell away from the Reds since joining from Sunderland in 2018. He featured regularly at the youth level with Liverpool.
Tyler Morton – Hull City confirmed the signing of the 20-year-old on loan from Liverpool for the 2023/24 season on September 1. The Reds sent the midfielder back out on loan after spending 2022/23 with Blackburn Rovers. He featured 46 times at Ewood Park and registered four assists.

Trey Nyoni – The 16-year-old announced on Instagram that he had signed for Liverpool’s academy on August 23. Anfield chiefs sought to add the midfielder to their youth squad after he left Leicester City after 10 years. The England U16 gem played 13 U18 Premier League games in 2022/23 for two goals.
