Liverpool are ready to take their attempts to sign Fenerbahce youngster Arda Guler to the next level.
That’s according to Turkish outlet Aksam, who claim that the Reds are now one of the front-runners to sign the 18-year-old.
Joining them on pole position is reportedly Barcelona. Both the Spaniards and Liverpool are said to be now ‘stepping up’ their endeavours to tempt Guler away from Turkey.

They’re not the only two clubs interested, though. Far from it actually. Newcastle United, RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and Real Sociedad are all named as potential suitors.
However, Fenerbahce are also claimed to set on keeping Guler for an extra year. That being said, the Istanbul side reportedly value their wonderkid at around £13m.
Guler gets Pirlo stamp of approval
This isn’t the first time Liverpool have been mentioned in connection with Guler. The Reds were reported to be watching the then 17-year-old from as far back as April 2022.
Since then, he’s come on quite a lot. At the start of this season Guler was given the No.10 shirt at Fenerbahce, a clear sign that he was set for more first team involvement. So it has proven, with the teenager playing 37 times across all competitions.
In that time he’s managed six goals and four assists. Not huge numbers for an attacking midfielder, but not bad either.

Guler has also already been recognised at national team level. After making his debut for Turkey in November last year, he’s gone on to make one further appearance.
These kind of milestones led to some gushing words from none other than Italian legend Andrea Pirlo. In a recent interview with beIN SPORTS via Turkish outlet Hurriyet, Pirlo said Guler had the talent to play at the very highest level.
“Arda Guler is one of the most prominent names here,” said the World Cup winner. “We can call him a player in the champion prototype. He’s one of the players who can come closest to the top level. He is a very promising player with his quality, his game vision, his technique, everything. But he has to keep improving. He has to keep improving every day. The right directions need to be made to such players. I can say that he has the ability to go to European and even world level and has the character of a player.”
With all this in mind, it isn’t out of the question that Liverpool are tracking the young starlet. But right now, Guler really isn’t a priority. Liverpool are potentially trying to wrap up a deal for Khephren Thuram, and that should be their focus right now. If he does stay at Fenerbahce though, it’s well worth keeping an eye on his progress next season.
