Liverpool youngster Stefan Bajcetic has suggested that Kaide Gordon could soon make his return from injury.

After breaking into the Reds first team last season, Gordon has had a truly terrible year this time around. The 18-year-old never fully recovered from an injury that ruled him out of the back end of last season.

Having promised so much, the former Derby County winger hasn’t played even a single minute of this campaign.

But posting on Instagram yesterday, Gordon – and Bajcetic – appeared to suggest that a better year may be ahead. Commenting on Kaide’s post of him modelling Liverpool’s new home kit for 2023/24, Bajcetic simply wrote ‘Loading…’

Not an definitive admission by any means, but let’s just hope that Stefan has some information that we’re not yet privy to. Fingers crossed that Gordon’s injury nightmare is now close to being behind him.

Gordon readying return

Such has been his sudden absence from the set-up, plenty of Liverpool fans have probably forgotten about Gordon this season. It really has been an unfortunate year for the youngster.

But cast your minds back to the turn of 2022, and Kaide was being billed as the next big thing at the club.

Jurgen Klopp called him ‘exceptional’ [The Daily Mail], and was clearly willing to give him minutes in the senior side. You don’t start a Carabao Cup semi-final away at the Emirates Stadium at seventeen if you don’t have the manager’s trust.

Amazingly, that 2-0 win in January last year was the last time we’ve seen Gordon playing for Liverpool.

Nevertheless, coaches at the AXA Training Centre reportedly remain convinced that the teenager can still be something special. He merely needs to get fit.

Hopefully by the time pre-season comes around, Gordon will be ready to send a reminder of just how good he can be.

With Liverpool not reportedly targeting a Roberto Firmino replacement this summer, a spot could open up in the Reds attack. In Kaide’s absence, young Ben Doak has stepped into the breach as the young man of the moment. But Gordon is equally as exciting.

If he can get back on the pitch next season, you can be sure he’ll remind everyone of that fact. Loading indeed.
