Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Liverpool could be on the verge of signing Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton.
Mac Allister has emerged as one of the Reds top summer targets as they look to rebuild their midfield. To that end, Romano reported in April that talks between Liverpool and the Brighton man were set to commence ‘very soon.’
One Twitter account to report the journalist’s update was The Anfield Talk. Posting on April 16th, they covered Romano’s comments on Mac Allister’s potential transfer.
Now, the journalist has returned to that tweet with an interesting update. Posting late last night, Romano replied to The Anfield Talk with two emojis: a ‘look-out’ pair of eyes and an ‘okay’ symbol.
We expect the transfer expert may have an update to watch out for today!
Mac Allister edging closer to Liverpool
Over the last few weeks, Romano has reported that Mac Allister is expecting Brighton to grant his wish of a transfer this summer. He’s also claimed that any move is likely to take place early on in the window.
Adding into the mix the fact that Liverpool appear to be leading the race for the 24-year-old, and we only see this going one way. Namely, we think Alexis Mac Allister will end up a Liverpool player before too long. Obviously, there are still a number of obstacles that need to be navigated first. But for our money, this one gets done.

And what a good signing he could be. The Argentine has had an ‘unbelievable’ season. Should it get over the line, it would feel a little like a throwback kind of signing for the Reds.
Our recent success was built on the back of bringing players in from further down the Premier League. Okay, Brighton may end up finishing ahead of Liverpool this season, but you get the point.
Sadio Mane, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson and perhaps most notably of all – Gini Wijnaldum were signed in similar fashion. Gini is notable because we have a hunch that Mac Allister could well be the eventual replacement for the Dutchman. The Argentine could be the road-running ball-keeper that Liverpool have been crying out for.
We don’t want to get too excited for nothing, but Romano isn’t usually too wide of the mark. Let’s see how this unfolds.
