Mohamed Salah shares what he always does as soon as Trent Alexander-Arnold gets the ball

Mohamed Salah has claimed that Liverpool teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold is an ‘unbelievable’ passer of the ball.

After a season of near-constant criticism, Alexander-Arnold has started to shine again over recent weeks. Instead of the focus being on what he can’t do, the 24-year-old has sent a reminder of the brilliance that he is capable of.

One man who appears to have had no doubts about Trent’s quality throughout, is Mo. Speaking to Rio Ferdinand in BT Sport’s Between The Lines show recently, Salah admitted that he and the Reds right-back know each other’s games inside out.

“Trent has great vision in the game, he’s always looking for the hardest pass in the game and he’s just trying to play it,” said the Egyptian.

“Immediately once I know he gets the ball and there’s space, I run. Even without seeing him if he’s going to pass or not, but he knows my game very well by now. He can [make the difficult passes] because his vision is unbelievable.”

Trent rediscovers his Mo-jo

Trent and Mo’s partnership was in full view once again on Saturday, as the full-back claimed a winning assist for the Egyptian. Perfect ball in, unerring finish. We’ve seen it all before.

It’s a link-up that any team in world football would be delighted with and we’re lucky to call it our own.

As Alexander-Arnold transitions into his new role in midfield, some may worry that we’ll lose a little of that right-hand side magic. Certainly, Ibrahima Konate who’ll be nominally in Trent’s position, doesn’t have anything like the passing range of the Scouser.

Arguably though, the switch could actually open the door up even more for these two to wreak havoc. From an inverted position, the angle for Trent to find Mo should be even better. His passing is good enough to reach the forward from anywhere on the pitch.

The clip that Ferdinand highlights during this segment for BT is Salah’s goal at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea last season. The pass that Trent plays is actually from what can only be described as a midfield position. With Salah running from outside to in, it’s a simple but beautiful clipped pass from the right-back.

We’ve seen that plenty of times over the last six years and as long as Mo keeps running into that space, we’ll see it many more too. Trent will find him, you can bet on that.
