Bayern Munich could now sell Ryan Gravenberch to Liverpool as they expect to sign RB Leipzig ace Konrad Laimer this summer.
That’s according to Sport Bild, who have shared an update on the Reds’s pursuit of alternative midfield targets after their failed pursuit of Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.
Back during the January window, Jurgen Klopp was interested in landing Laimer at Anfield in the summer, as he will be available as a free agent due to the expiry of his contract at the end of the season.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, despite Liverpool’s interest, the 25-year-old chose to sign a pre-contract with Bayern Munich instead.
Whilst this would have been a blow for the Merseyside outfit, Sport Bild now claim it could open up the possibility of Bayern selling another Klopp target to the Reds.
They claim with Laimer’s arrival at the Allianz Arena, the German giants could sell Gravenberch to Liverpool – having beat them to his signature last summer.
Laimer could allow Gravenberch to join Liverpool
Despite missing out on Laimer, who is known for his ‘crazy’ work-rate, the Austrian’s arrival at Bayern could be good news for Liverpool.
Last summer, the Reds lost out on signing Gravenberch from Ajax, who made the move to Germany in a deal worth £20m.
However, his tenure with the European giants hasn’t started in the way he would have hoped for.
Although he has made 17 Bundesliga appearances this season, only one of these have come from the starting XI. Instead, the vast majority of his cameos have been for the final few minutes off the bench.
Therefore, a move to Liverpool could be an opportunity to get his career back on track, as he would walk into Klopp’s midfield.
