Pundit Gary Neville has claimed Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is absolutely incredible going forward.

Speaking on commentary for Sky Sports, the former Manchester United man was full of praise for the 24-year-old after he nutmegged Oleksandr Zinchenko and played a beautifully weighted cross into Roberto Firmino, who brought the score level.

“I couldn’t be more critical of Alexander-Arnold from a defensive point of view but going forward he is a sensation,” said Neville.

“He has to learn to half get by defensively.

“He’s playing in midfield most of the time anyway when he’s a full-back.”

Starting the game at right-back but drifting into the midfield when Liverpool were in possession of the ball, Alexander-Arnold struggled during the first 45 minutes.

However, in the second-half, he looked like a completely different player.

The Scouser looked more like the Trent of old – the full-back who would constantly bomb up and down the wing.

His contribution was crucial to the Reds equalling the score-line, having played a fantastic assist into Firmino.

Therefore, if Alexander-Arnold, who earns £160,000-a-week at Liverpool, can maintain this form for the remainder of the season, we could see Jurgen Klopp’s defence revitalised.

However, the defensive issues still remain, so the system at the back certainly needs to be addressed.
