There’s no truth to rumours that Liverpool are about to sign Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich.
That’s according to Liverpool-based journalist James Pearce. Pearce took part in a Q&A with Reds fans for The Athletic today. Asked to comment on claims from former Reds defender Jose Enrique that Gravenberch was a done deal, the journalist struck a sceptical tone.
“My information is that nothing is nailed on at this stage. Gravenberch will be one of many under consideration. Bellingham is clearly the priority,” he explained.
Enrique jumps the gun on Gravenberch claim
Gravenberch had been rumoured to be a target for Liverpool long before Enrique’s unexpected declaration last week.
In case you missed it, the former Reds left-back was bullish about Liverpool’s chances of landing the 20-year-old. Announcing that he and Gravenberch actually shared an agent, Enrique said the midfielder was ‘ours.’

Only time will tell whether that ends up being the case. The Dutchman has reportedly stated his desire to leave Munich this summer, though.
Liverpool are certainly claimed to have done their homework on him whether they eventually pursue that or not.
Judging from Pearce’s comments though, it’s still full-steam ahead on bringing Jude Bellingham to Anfield. Worrying reports yesterday appeared to lessen the Reds’ chances of signing the 19-year-old.
But as of now, hope looks to remain for Liverpool in that particular saga. It may be that the Reds end up coming in for Gravenberch only if they miss out on Bellingham. Regardless, it seems that as though Enrique has jumped the gun a little with his comments.
