Pundit Paul Merson has claimed Liverpool could be about to make two signings which could make them a title-contending team again.
Writing in his column for Sky Sports, the former Arsenal player has suggested that midfielders Mason Mount and Jude Bellingham could totally transform Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI.
“Mason Mount was by far Chelsea’s best player last season. He was outstanding,” wrote Merson.
“Whoever gets Mason Mount has got the biggest result ever. The kid can play. It’s bad business by Chelsea – they should give him what he’s asking for. You don’t offload your best players.

“If Liverpool go and get Mount and then Jude Bellingham, who could also go to Liverpool, you’ve got a title-contending team.
“Why would you want to chance that? Why would you make them stronger?
“I’m a huge fan of Mount, he’s a top-class player.”
Merson says Mount and Bellingham could transform Liverpool
Mason Mount’s situation at Chelsea seems to be hotting up, as the player has added a new agent to his ranks.
This shows parallels to Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, who, in January, signed with another representative to help secure a move away.
This could be the case with the England international, who seems to be disillusioned with life at Stamford Bridge.

Having played today for the Three Lions, Mount and Bellingham could form a formidable partnership in the middle of the park for Liverpool.
Klopp will also need to add a defensive midfielder, but if they can do that, they will be well on their way to having one of the best midfields in the Premier League.
