It could be difficult for Liverpool to sign Jude Bellingham if they don’t make a serious offer to bring him to Anfield soon.
Bellingham is the Reds top target for the upcoming transfer window. But according to journalist Christian Falk, there is a very real possibility that Real Madrid are starting to overtake them in the race.
“Yes, Jude Bellingham’s father is speaking to Real Madrid and yes, he has met with the Spanish outfit. This hasn’t just taken place in London, as has been reported, but also the week before in the Spanish capital. But the important thing is that Jude himself has not yet made a decision and there’s still yet to be talks with Dortmund,” Falk told CaughtOffside.
“Liverpool are still in the running. Though it’s important to note that if Real are serious and the Reds aren’t ready to make a good offer soon, it will become an increasingly difficult situation for the latter.
“Jurgen Klopp has already admitted to himself: When it comes to money, Jude doesn’t stand a chance. That all being said, Bellingham isn’t motivated solely by money.”
Bellingham keeping his cards close
As we head quickly towards the end of the current season, the battle for Bellingham will finally begin to be concluded.
So far, the 19-year-old and his camp haven’t given much away in regards to his next club. By design, Bellingham has very much kept his options open.
Much like a midfield version of Duncan Bannatyne, Jude has made prospective suitors pitch to him before he decides if he’s in or out.
As Falk alludes to, those pitches appear to be very much under way. Reports during the week suggested that Madrid were indeed meeting with Bellingham to make their case.
Whether or not Liverpool have or are yet to do that isn’t especially clear. But recent reports suggest that the Reds are still confident in their ability to lure the England man to Anfield.
For them to do that, Football Transfers claim they’ll have to pay at least £106m. With the fee out in the open for quite some time, that shouldn’t be a surprise to Liverpool, Now they need to make sure they put their money where their mouth is and don’t get left behind.
