Senior sources at Liverpool have been claiming that they’re very close to finalising the signing of Jude Bellingham.
That’s according to Football Transfers, who report that Liverpool are ‘confident’ that they’ve made a breakthrough on the 19-year-old.
It’s claimed that these ‘officials’ have now been openly speaking about Bellingham moving to Anfield this summer. In addition, Jude’s brother Jobe is also said to have ‘indicated’ that his older sibling is joining Liverpool.
Furthermore, club legends have reportedly been speaking with a ‘huge degree of certainty’ that the Bellingham is joining the Reds. However, these legends aren’t named.
Finally, Football Transfers claim that Bellingham himself is ‘leaning towards’ signing for Liverpool. Manchester City are said to be the Reds’ biggest rivals in this respect, with Borussia Dortmund expecting to bank at least £106m.
Not over yet in Bellingham race
These are big claims coming out this afternoon. Should Football Transfers’ information be correct, then it’s obviously a huge moment for Liverpool.
If senior sources are confident, then that’s obviously a brilliant sign. In such a protracted and complicated transfer race, such confidence can only be attained through absolute certainty.
Until we hear it from elsewhere though, it would be right to hold a certain degree of scepticism here.
As far as everyone else is concerned, the race for Bellingham is still very much wide open. Real Madrid were even reported as being in meetings with the player’s father as recently as yesterday.
So, confident or not, Liverpool should still be wary of approaches from other sides. City are obviously still a threat but Madrid won’t take this lying down, either.
But neither, in truth, will Liverpool. They’ve been adamant that Bellingham is the man they want for going on 18 months. As far as they’re concerned, there’s only one way this is ending – with Jude donning the famous No.8 at Anfield.
