Gary Lineker and Micah Richards can’t believe what Jordan Henderson did vs Crystal Palace yesterday

Pundits Gary Lineker and Micah Richards couldn’t believe what Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson was doing during a free-kick taken by Trent Alexander-Arnold against Crystal Palace.

Speaking on the BBC’s Match of the Day last night, the pair were gobsmacked that the midfielder managed to get in the way of the 24-year-old’s dead-ball – especially in such a specialist area, where many of his free-kicks have been scored before.

“Perhaps their season summed up in a way by what happened to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s free-kick, which looked like it was going in the top corner,” said Lineker.

“This free-kick, I mean, it looks like it’s going in,” Richards added.

“The next angle is even better. I mean, Henderson gets one right in the face there.

“And he’s just stopped one of the free-kicks of the season.

“But when your lucks not in, sometimes it’s just the way it goes.”

As Lineker puts it, this really does sum up Liverpool’s season thus far.

The Reds have been poor both domestically and continentally.

Whilst this is obvious on the pitch by such errors being made by the team, it stems from a lack of investment into Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

In a time like this, new additions are needed to freshen up the starting XI.

These mistakes, which are being made so regularly, wouldn’t happen if the manager was able to rest these players once in a while. However, with Liverpool’s lack of depth, this isn’t an option for the German.

Instead, the Reds are likely to line-up in a similar way next week, as they don’t have many alternatives.

This is deeply worrying for the club, as the summer transfer window remains a long way off.

Even so, it’s never a certainty whether FSG will put their hands in their pockets to back Klopp in the market anyway.
