Liverpool youngster Ben Doak spotted in first-team training today before Newcastle game on Saturday

Liverpool youngster Ben Doak has been spotted training with the first-team today ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash against Newcastle United.

This will come as a boost for Jurgen Klopp, as the 17-year-old has missed the last four games with a minor muscle injury.

Last week, Liverpool Echo journalist Ian Doyle suggested that the attacker would be back training by the weekend.

Whilst we’re unsure if this was the case, Doak has now been captured on the pitch (via Football Daily) with the rest of the squad at Kirkby today.

The Scotsman could thus be in contention for a spot on the bench at the weekend, when the Merseyside outfit travel to St James’ Park.

Doak returns to first-team training

Although we haven’t seen much of Doak yet, every cameo he has made has been exciting.

The teenager has made five appearances for the Reds, coming off the bench twice in the Premier League, as well as featuring in domestic cup competitions.

The former Celtic prodigy has been hailed for his ridiculous speed and his fearlessness when driving at opposition defenders.

Impressing for Liverpool UEFA U19s with four goals and four assists in six appearances, he has more than earned his spot with Klopp’s senior side.

However, with more attackers set to return from injury over the coming weeks, game time might be limited for Doak.

Hopefully he can get a few minutes on the pitch here and there as he adjusts to the physicality of top-flight football, as he prepares for a potential loan spell next season.
