Liverpool transfer target Jude Bellingham isnât interested in joining Chelsea this summer.
Bellingham has been tentatively linked with a move to the big-spending Blues, among a host of other top-level clubs. But according to journalist Christian Falk, Chelsea can more than likely be ruled out of the running.
Writing for Caught Offside, Falk reports that Bellingham was âlooking atâ goings on at Stamford Bridge prior to their January move for Enzo Fernandez. However, the journalist claims that the 19-year-old wasnât convinced of a âclear planâ from the club.
Newcastle United are also name-checked as being âinterestedâ in Bellingham this summer. However, Falk has moved to rule the Magpies out of the running, too.
On the Liverpool front, the journalist has an interesting update as well. He claims that given the Reds poor form this season, Bellingham could be tempted to stay an additional year at Borussia Dortmund.
Rather than move to a Manchester City or a Real Madrid, Falk suggests the the England international could âwaitâ for Liverpool. Should they return to the Champions League in 2024, he would then move to Anfield.
Liverpool still in the mix for Bellingham
Throughout the Bellingham transfer saga, Chelsea have never felt like serious contenders. But given their ridiculous spending of late, you canât totally rule them out.
Itâs true that they didnât really feel like a legitimate option for Enzo Fernandez until they simply wouldnât take no for an answer.
Fortunately, Bellingham doesnât appear as someone likely to be swayed by that approach. Some at Chelsea have been desperate to point out that the club are putting money into potentially top-level young players.
But looking at the business theyâre doing, itâs truly hard to see a clear plan behind it. Factor in that they sack a manager every other year, and the project in West London doesnât look like the one for Bellingham.
Instead, City and Madrid are likely to be Liverpoolâs main threats. Madrid in particular have been dubbed as the perfect place for the âsensationalâ Bellingham to grow. The Reds being as bad as they are this season doesnât help counter that argument. But weâve got our fingers crossed that Jude will be able to see beyond that.
If he can, Liverpool still appear to be his likeliest destination.
