Reported Liverpool transfer target Sofyan Amrabat has failed to turn up for training today as he tries to push through a deadline day move.

That’s according to journalist Fabrizio Romano. Writing on Twitter this afternoon, Romano claimed that the Moroccan is ‘forcing’ a transfer away from Fiorentina.

At this stage though, it wouldn’t appear that Liverpool are in the running. The Reds have long been seen as a possible destination for Amrabat this winter. But instead, Romano suggests that Barcelona are his most active suitors.

The journalist reports that Barca in fact had a loan proposition rejected for the 26-year-old earlier today. Offering around £2.5m up-front with a £32.5m buy option, their bid was turned down by Fiorentina.

Amrabat almost out of January options

By the sounds of things, Amrabat has been pretty clear about his intention to leave Florence ever since the World Cup.

It’s no secret that the Morocco international has been open to joining a new club throughout January.

So far though, his employer’s high asking price appears to have staved off the wolves. Liverpool were reportedly one of the clubs most keen on bringing Amrabat to the Premier League.

But with Jurgen Klopp said to have met his representatives prior to the World Cup, talks didn’t appear to go any further.

Now, if Amrabat does end up getting his move, it surely won’t be to Liverpool.

The sugesstion is that the former Hellas Verona player is absolutely not available for a loan transfer. If that were to change in the final hours of the window, Liverpool’s interest should be piqued.

At £35m though, you can’t see the Reds getting involved this late in the day.
