Inter Milan fans have hung a banner in San Siro urging reported Liverpool target Milan Skriniar to sign a new contract.

The defender’s current deal expires at the end of the season. With less than six months left to make a decision, things are getting twitchy for Inter. And as per Calciomercatoweb, fans have now taken action.

They claim that supporters have created a banner with the words: “Skriniar stay in Milan, you are our captain.”

The site also carry quotes on the matter from Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta. Despite the time ticking on Skriniar’s contract, Marotta has claimed that the club haven’t given him a deadline to make a decision.

“If there is a deadline for the extension [for Skriniar]? Absolutely not,” he said. “Also because these are recurring dynamics in all clubs now and I would no longer like to talk about appointments.”

Should he be available for nothing, the Slovakian defender will be one of the hottest properties on the market this summer. Along with a host of other sides, Liverpool are said to be in the running.

Liverpool’s interest in Skriniar

Liverpool’s interest in brining Skriniar to Anfield is reported to have ramped up following injury to Virgil van Dijk.

As a result of Van Dijk now facing at least a month of the side lines, the Reds are claimed to be looking for solutions in the market.

Skriniar is reportedly one of these solutions. 90min have even gone as far as claiming that Liverpool have already been in contact with Inter over a proposed deal.

For the Italians’ part, they are said to be pretty desperate to keep the 27-year-old. Having only missed 18 league games in five-and-a-half seasons, Skriniar is a key player for them.

But it has also been reported that should talks with the defender not progress, they may concede to a January sale.

When you consider that they were looking for £70m to sell Skriniar last year [90min], losing him for nothing would be a huge blow for Inter. As a result, if the Slovakia international is unwilling to budge on his demands over the coming weeks, perhaps they’ll have no choice but to do business. One to keep an eye on, certainly.
