Liverpool have made contact with Inter Milan over a possible transfer of centre-back Milan Skriniar.
That’s according to 90min, who claim that the Reds are ‘exploring their options’ in the market following injury to Virgil van Dijk.
With that in mind, ‘intermediaries’ from Anfield are said to have reached out to Inter to discuss Skriniar. With his contract due to expire this summer, the Italians are running out of time to secure the Slovakian’s future.
It’s claimed that his current club remain ‘determined’ to tie Skriniar to a new deal. But Inter are also reportedly ‘braced’ to receive bids.

Should an agreement fail to be reached soon though, the Nerazzurri are said to be ‘considering’ selling the 27-year-old.
As well as Liverpool, PSG are claimed to be interested in Skriniar, seeing him as a successor to Sergio Ramos. Overtures are said to be even more advanced from a number of Premier League clubs. Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Newcastle United are all reportedly ‘expected’ to offer contracts to the defender this month.
Skriniar the opportunity Liverpool are waiting for?
As Skriniar’s contract ticks down in Milan, Liverpool have been continually linked with a move for him.
The Reds were said to have sounded Inter out over a move as far back as November. But with Van Dijk now injured, an addition at centre-back could just have become more of a priority.

For our money, Liverpool won’t panic though. Jurgen Klopp suggested yesterday that Virgil is facing around a month on the side lines. Although the Reds boss tends to be a little optimistic in his injury assessments, there’s still no immediate need to replace Van Dijk.
Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate have all had their injury troubles, but all are fit right now. Meanwhile Nat Phillips looks set to hang around a little longer, too.
As a result, Liverpool shouldn’t do anything unless a really good opportunity arrives. Some would claim that Skriniar is that opportunity.
It wasn’t too long ago that Inter were looking for £70m for their centre-back after all [90min]. Now twenty-seven, he’s four years younger than both Van Dijk and Matip and is in his peak years. If Liverpool can haggle a reasonable price, maybe this could still be a deal worth doing.
