Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was spotted hugging Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Matheus Nunes after the full-time whistle had blown at Anfield on Saturday.

That’s according to journalist Paul Joyce and The Times. He claims the Reds boss embraced the Portugal international after the side’s FA Cup clash.

This comes amid strong rumours linking the 24-year-old with a move to Merseyside in the summer.

Liverpool almost signed the midfielder last summer, but a deal failed to come to fruition.

According to Sky Sports, the Reds are set to reignite their interest in the player, with a £50m move mooted for the end of the season.

Liverpool are in desperate need of midfield additions. As exemplified on Saturday, Nunes is more than good enough to slot into Klopp’s midfield, as he outclassed the Reds’ players in the short period he had on the pitch.

Although the club should have got the deal done last summer, they now need to ensure he joins at the end of the season, with multiple midfielders needed to help fix this disjointed squad.

Klopp is seemingly planting the seed ahead of a prospective move, and it appears the 24-year-old would be more than happy to make the switch to Anfield.

However, while this is all well and good, Liverpool need midfield signings this month. The Merseyside outfit cannot wait until the summer to bring players in, as the current situation could lead to disastrous results at the end of the campaign.

If new players aren’t brought in this month, Champions League qualification appears to be a long way off. The Reds don’t look like putting a string of wins together, and this will continue to be the case without midfield signings.
