Liverpool have £250m to spend and there’s a really good chance they’ll sign ‘world-class’ player – journalist

Liverpool will be armed with a transfer budget of up to £250m this summer.

That’s according to journalist Christian Falk. Writing for Caught Offside on Substack, Falk claimed that the Reds will have ‘£200m-250m’ to spend during the off-season.

The journalist notes that Jurgen Klopp ‘really wants’ to use this money to sign Jude Bellingham. However, Falk warns that the race to sign Bellingham will come down to money and, despite Liverpool’s war chest, Real Madrid ‘have more.’

This reportedly hasn’t deterred Liverpool, though. Falk concludes that there’s still a ‘good chance’ that Bellingham ends up at Anfield.

Liverpool finally look to reinvest

If Liverpool do have such a big budget next summer, then signing Bellingham is a no-brainer. Parting with the reported £130m fee would still leave enough in the bank for a couple more quality additions.

Given the Reds’ ability to find value in the transfer market, £120m could go an awful long way.

Besides, midfield is the real area in need of upgrading. After Cody Gakpo’s arrival, Liverpool don’t need to put any funds towards their attack for next season.

The defence is similarly sorted, although it might be wise to start looking for a new centre-back at some stage.

So, it’s conceivable that all of this money is being put on one side to sort out the midfield. £250m would get you Bellingham and Enzo Fernandez. How many Liverpool fans would say no to that?

Some would, for sure. And they might be right. The Reds have got themselves into such a position that they might actually need more than two new midfielders.

As a result, as tempting as blowing the budget might be, they may have to be a little more cute with the fees.

With Liverpool seriously in for Bellingham, it’s clear that there is a good chunk of money there. If the Reds do miss out on Jude, it’ll be interesting to see where the funds are channelled instead.
