New Liverpool signing Cody Gakpo was pictured training with the first-team today ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
After crashing out of the Carabao Cup with a 3-2 loss to Manchester City, the Reds will be preparing hard for Saturday’s fixture, as it is the only domestic cup trophy they can now win.
Having officially been unveiled as a Liverpool player in the new year, the 23-year-old Dutchman has now been pictured taking part in one of Pep Lijnders’ training sessions.

Gakpo was spotted hard at work alongside a number of Merseyside stars – most regularly besides Darwin Nunez and Ibrahima Konate.
Whilst it was too soon for the youngster to make his debut in the Premier League against Brentford, it is now expected that he will start for Klopp’s side against Wolves this weekend.

Amid the doom and gloom surrounding the 3-1 loss to Brentford, the Anfield fanbase will be full of excitement to see the Dutchman make his debut in a Reds shirt.
Prior to the transfer, Virgil van Dijk was full of praise for his Netherlands teammate. After exceptional performances at the World Cup, the defender backed Gakpo to make the step up to the next level of football, having played his entire career at PSV Eindhoven.
“I definitely think he has that next step in him,” Van Dijk said, as quoted by The Metro.
“I definitely feel like it could happen, whether that is in the winter or the summer or next year, time will tell. He is a great boy who works hard, very talented and definitely there is more in him.”

After a number of rather poor performances, Klopp could do with injecting a youthful burst of energy into his starting XI.
Hailed by former Red Glen Johnson as an ‘incredible’ player, Gakpo is certainly the man for the job.
Therefore, hopefully we see the 23-year-old make his Liverpool debut at the weekend, as the fans need something fun to look forward to.
