Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes has praised Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker.
The two Brazilians were part of Tite’s squad for the World Cup in Qatar this winter. As a result, Alisson was an option for Bruno’s dream 5-a-side team of current and former teammates via Premier League on YouTube.
But, although he hailed the Liverpool man, as well as Manchester City’s Ederson as ‘amazing,’ Bruno picked his Newcastle teammate Nick Pope.
“I would take Nick Pope. Nick Pope,” smiled the 25-year-old. “The others are amazing as well, but I will keep with my teammate. But it’s three amazing options.”

This is clearly a pretty biased decision from Bruno, but we can’t blame him for that. Alisson is by far and away the best goalkeeper of these three choices, but fair play to him for sticking with his clubmate.
Had things been different, the £67m goalie could well have been a colleague of Bruno’s for club and country.
Liverpool were claimed to be very keen on securing the midfielder’s signature before he joined Newcastle last January. Having missed out on him then, there have been some suggestions that the Reds could return with another bid.
But, with Newcastle flying high in the Premier League, that now looks like an impossibility.
Instead, Bruno appears set to be the figurehead for the Magpies new era under Saudi ownership. Much like David Silva or Sergio Aguero at Manchester City, it’s easy to see him staying in the North East in the long-term as they transition from also-rans to state-owned behemoths.
In our opinion, trading that in to play with Alisson at Liverpool would trump that rather hollow success. We’re biased though.
With Enzo Fernandez looking set to slip through Liverpool’s fingers, they are still very much in the market for a midfielder or two. It would be interesting to see how Bruno, and Newcastle, would react to another attempt to lure him to Merseyside.
There are few better midfielders in the Premier League right now. In Alisson, as well as Fabinho and Roberto Firmino, Bruno has some familiar faces at Anfield. Perhaps he should come and see just how much better than Nick Pope our No.1 really is.
