Liverpool see a way to sign Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United, according to reports. The Brazilian is in fantastic form.

This comes from TNT in Brazil. They claim that Liverpool, along with Chelsea and Real Madrid, all see a way to sign Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United.

Guimaraes has been a revelation since arriving in the North East last January. The player quickly proved himself as one of the Premier League’s best midfielders – and that naturally draws interest.

The suggestion from TNT is that Newcastle now plan on improving his contract. That means entering negotiations as they attempt to lockdown their star player.

However, there’s always a chance that things don’t go to plan. Should Guimaraes pass on the opportunity to extend his contract, Newcastle may be forced to cash-in on the player. At the very least, it would be evidence that he doesn’t see a long-term future there.

That would bring offers from ‘bigger’ clubs and these reports are likely pressure on the situation from somewhere. After all, if Guimaraes knows of clubs watching him, he’s got a lot more to think about.

Liverpool track Bruno Guimaraes

It does make sense. As Alan Shearer said this week, Guimaraes is someone who would ‘get into any team’. Liverpool would absolutely love to have him.

But we don’t see it happening. Newcastle have the necessary cash to raise his wages to enormous levels and Guimaraes is the centrepiece of their project now. It’s possible they’d even prefer him to run down his contract than sell him early.

No one should get their hopes up, then. All the noise from Guimaraes is that he’s loving his life with Newcastle and a new contract is only going to make that better.

While the Brazilian would certainly be a fantastic player who any top side, it seems everyone but Newcastle missed their chance.
